Benghazi attack on US Embassy was known by the US State Department, the White House and the Situation room within 20 minutes of the initial attack. Three e-mails which have been released to Reuters, CBS and other news outlets prove that US State Department, the White House and the Situation Room were notified minutes into the Benghazi attack in Libya.

Obama knew of the Benghazi attack minutes into it.

Video report located below. View the emails sent to Washington about the Benghazi attack on US Embassy

4:05 PM: Approximately 20 minutes into the Benghazi attack the first e-mail is received with “U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi Under Attack” in the subject line.

The first e-mail reads as follows: “The regional security officer reports the diplomatic mission is under attack. Embassy Tripoli reports approximately 20 armed people fired shots; explosions have been heard as well. Ambassador Stevens, who is currently in Benghazi, and four COM (Chief of Mission) personnel are in the compound safe haven.”

4:55PM: Just 50 minutes after the Benghazi attack the second e-mail is received. It reports that the Benghazi attack has stopped and that embassy personnel are being looked for.

6:07PM: The third e-mail is received by the White House. In it reads, “Ansar al-Sharia Claims Responsibility for Benghazi Attack”.

“The emails are just a few in what are likely a large number traded throughout the night. They are likely to become part of the ongoing political debate over whether the administration attempted to mislead in saying the assault was an outgrowth of a protest, rather than a planned attack by terrorists,” reports CBS News .

“By the morning of September 12, the day after the Benghazi attack, Reuters reported that there were indications that members of both Ansar al-Sharia, a militia based in the Benghazi area, and al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, the North African affiliate of al Qaeda’s faltering central command, may have been involved in organizing the attacks,” according to MSNBC .
