Insurmountable Odds and End Time Prophecies

Insurmountable odds. Faith isn’t gained under pressure. It is revealed. Panic ensues when faith is not present during times of trials and tribulations. There’s a lot of panic going on. America is facing some of its greatest financial, political, military, social and spiritual challenges of all times. People are worried.

End time prophecies sprout among people whenever there is a rich environment of fear. It creates anxiety and despair. The problem has been exacerbated for many because of the Mayan calendar. This calendar which has been in use for thousands of years abruptly stops tracking time on December 21, 2012. Many are believing that they are in an environment of insurmountable odds

In the Bible the Book of Revelations or the “Apocalypse” is greatly feared by many. It is believed to describe the end of the world and man with it. A multitude of books, television programs and website help push this idea of death, gloom and doom especially during troubled times. It plays on fears and sells their wares.

Revelations is the English transliteration of the Greek word “apokalypsis” or apocalypse. It does not mean catastrophic damage and total destruction as many believe. Apocalypse literally means “laying bare” and “revealing of the truth”. And here’s the truth of the matter. Revelations ‘reveals” to use the way to overcome even the most severe adversity and insurmountable odds.

Revelations 13 is describing events during the tribulation. These are very bad events. The people are having to face the devil and the antichrist face to face. The following is a brief descriptive of Chapter 13 highlighting the salient points. It is not a complete accounting of all the events nor does it explain all of the symbolisms and meanings.

Insurmountable odds

insurmountable odds

A beast (Antichrist) rises out of the sea having seven heads (position/government) and ten horns (strength/power). One of the heads is mortally wounded but miraculously is brought back to life. “andall the world wondered after the beast”. Revelations 13:3

The people worshipped the Dragon (Satan) that gave power unto the Antichrist. The earth’s population also worshipped the Antichrist saying, “Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”

The people are facing insurmountable odds. A super power world government that is also impossible to beat militarily. But the knockout punch to be delivered isn’t physical. The crushing blow to the people of this world is spiritual, psychological and moral.

There was given the Antichrist a “mouth speaking great things”.

Great things that were powerful, believable, of high importance, of events and situations speaking so strongly that it affect the mind and senses of the listener.

And what were these great things the Anti Christ will speak of? Lies, slanders and blasphemy about God, his word, his people and heaven itself. And he will be believed.

Insurmountable Odds Are A Lie

“Who changed the truth of God into a lie,” and the people of this world who’s name are not written in the book of life of the lamb slain will, “worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.” The quotes around the two parts of that last sentence are Romans 1:25.

The Antichrist is given complete power in the world by government, by force and by mind. Without a doubt the people are facing insurmountable odds.

“And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.” Matthew 8:26

Insurmountable odds VictoryThe answer is Jesus, faith in Jesus. It always has been, always is and always will be. As the Apostle Paul at Philippi taught us, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”. Philippians 4:13

And the people get a reminder of this in Revelations 13: 9-10.

“If any man have an ear, let him hear. He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.”

Insurmountable Odds: Patience and Faith

Faith and patience go hand in hand. During times of tribulation and difficulty people of little faith become greatly impatient and panicked.

Faith is an absolute conviction. It is a knowing and trust thereof.

Patience is much more than just the ability to allow time to go by although that is certainly an element of it. Patience is endurance, being able to “stand” and withstand adversity. It is also constancy, to remain unchanged and a consistency of spirit and faith.

Faith and patience are married. There is no faith without patience. There is no patience (only impatience) without faith.

Insurmountable Odds: “If any man have an ear, let him hear”

“If any man have an ear, let him hear. He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.”

Verses 9 and 10 in revelations 13 is a little interjection, a reminder that regardless of the insurmountable odds that we will have victory in Jesus as long as we have faith and patience.

Seven times in Revelations Chapters 2 and 3 Jesus says, “If any man have an ear, let him hear” followed up with “To him that overcometh will I give” followed up by some great benefit.

I can’t think of a stronger command from God than if you got an ear you better listen up to what I’m about to tell you!

God tells us in Revelations that we are to overcome. Insurmountable odds is a lie of the devil. We are told to have faith and patience. We are told that even during the Tribulation, staring straight at the Devil himself who has complete control of everything on this planet that to just have faith and patience in God. To overcome and the Devil, our problem, our trials and tribulations will be lead captive (defeated) and “he that killeth” will be done away with.

Through patience and faith in God is the only a way out during “The” tribulation don’t you think the same will save you during any tribulation?

“Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved (shaken/overthrown).” Psalm 55:22

“Casting all your care (anxiety) upon him; for he careth (concerned/cares) for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

“Be careful (anxious/troubled) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
